If you’re wondering what types of video to post online for your business, check out this list of the TOP TEN types of business video in 2022.

The list comes from Wyzowl’s “The State of Video Marketing 2022,” and is from a survey of over 800 video marketers.

#1. Explainer Videos

According to Wyzowl’s survey, explainer videos were the most popular type of video posted last year. Explainer videos are short, online marketing videos used to explain a product or service.

They often use animated graphics, but can be live action as well, or a combination of both.

#2. Social Media Videos

The second most common type of video created last year was social media videos.

Social media videos are usually short-form content (30-45 seconds long) specifically designed to drive engagement on social media networks like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.

They’re also the best way to connect with people and expand your customer base. The most effective social media videos don’t try to sell anything. Their only goal is to connect and get clicks.

Yes, fire jugglers—you can’t get much more memorable than that.

#3. Presentation Videos

Due to the COVID pandemic, most sales presentations shifted from meeting face-to-face to meeting online, often on Zoom.

And as a result, presentation videos became much more prevalent.

#4. Video Testimonials 

It should be no surprise that testimonial videos are fourth on our list of the Top 10 Types of Business Video. Why? Because testimonials are one of the most effective types of content.

It’s human nature—people naturally believe unbiased third parties much more than they believe corporations and advertising agencies. It’s the same reason they read the reviews on Google and Yelp.

#5. Video Ads

While it’s true that testimonials may be more believable, advertising messages are still an effective way to communicate. And video ads are the #5 most posted type of content.

Video advertising is everywhere—from the commercial breaks on broadcast and cable TV, to the hyper-targeted messages on OTT Media, to pre-roll ads on YouTube.

#6. Sales Videos 

Sales Videos are much like advertising, at least in tone, but since they’re usually longer than 30 seconds, they can go into more detail about product features and benefits.

They’re most commonly found on company websites and eCommerce product pages.

#7. Product Demos

Product Demonstrations are #7 on the list. They’re a specific type of sales video, and literally demonstrate how a product works.

The example shown here, for Amerimix Pre-Blended Mortar, not only demonstrates the product, it compares Amerimix side-by-side with traditional concrete mixed with sand.

#8. Teaser Videos

Teaser Videos are like movie trailers. 

They whet the consumer’s appetite with a “Coming Soon” type message about new products and services. And, that news value makes teaser videos very effective at attracting online clicks.

#9. Onboarding Videos 

Another byproduct of the pandemic, more companies today are using video to help welcome new customers.

It’s as simple as sending an email with a video link. And the customers obviously don’t mind—according to Google, they’re three times more likely to watch a video about a new product than to actually read the owners’ manual.

#10. Training Videos

The last type of video on our Top 1- list is employee training videos.

This is yet another byproduct of the pandemic. With so many employees working from home, corporations found scheduling in-person training sessions difficult if not impossible.

So in 2022, those same corporations have been retooling their training methods with modular video training programs.
