What Makes a Manufacturing Video So Effective? People Want to Know How Products Are Made.
A good manufacturing video can be fascinating to watch. People love to marvel at how everyday products are made—and checking out the machines, robotics, and conveyor belts that connect them together.
They want to know where products come from, and understand the intricate steps of the manufacturing process.
Why? Just curious, I guess.
Of course, people have always been curious. Before video became so popular online, people went on factory tours. I know I did! I’ve toured the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. Golden Flake Snacks. Yamaha Golf Cars. And does Krispy Kreme count?
People Want to Know How It's Made
Are you familiar with the TV show “How It’s Made?” It’s a series on the Science Channel that started in 2001, and it’s still going strong.
Each episode shows how products are made. For example, bowling balls, candy canes, Oreo cookies…
‘How It’s Made’ is also a YouTube channel, with 559,000 subscribers, and over 114 million views. That’s right—114 MILLION. So obviously, manufacturing videos are popular among consumers.
Manufacturing Video
With content marketing so popular today, companies everywhere are looking for engaging content. For instance, they post blogs, and create videos that attract visitors, get shared on social media, and increase website traffic.
So if you’re a manufacturing company, including a manufacturing video in your marketing is a no brainer.
Letting people know that your products are made in the USA isn’t a bad idea, either.
So at this point, you’re probably wondering, how expensive would it be to shoot a manufacturing video?
Honestly, not expensive at all. You’ve already done the hard part—created the machines and conveyor belts and warehouses. All that’s left is to capture it on camera.
That’s probably why ‘How It’s Made’ has been on the air for so long. It’s inexpensive to produce.
I shot my first manufacturing video about ten years ago, for Beaulieu of America. And more recently, I shot a project for Kelly Products, including packaging for Sevin® brand insecticide products.
Made In the USA
Are there companies in North and South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia that could benefit from a manufacturing videos? Absolutely.
I recently met Jason Moss. He’s the Founder and CEO of the Georgia Manufacturing Alliance. And according to him, there are THOUSANDS of manufacturers in the area.
Many offer live factory tours. Hopefully, one of them will give Content Puppy a call.
